Dealing with the accident was very painful. When we called, they asked us to call road assistance, but the customer service was in Italian. Being stranded in the middle of nowhere was really frustrating.
That wanted to sell their insurance too much. Even though I said that I already have a full cover from Qeeq, they've been saying that it won't cover anything so I have to get theirs.
You did not provide enough details about the shuttle from the airport. As a result I had to get a taxi (30 Euro) and on top of that I've lost my jacket in the taxi. I understand the loss is my own responsibility but it took me a while to find a way to the vehicle and I was really tired after the flight.
On the way back I already knew the exact location and I knew that a free shuttle bus was circulating between the airport and the vehicle drop off.
This information was crucial to the booking.
Cars are not well looked after. The first car they gave me had a flat tire and they didn't even believe me when i reported it. They have a policy that customer should return the car clean inside out and if not there is a 20€ charge.
The actual rental company was a small local Italian company. Overall, it was pretty good, the staff were very friendly, spoke good English, and communication was quite pleasant.
They said my driver's license translation was expired and refused to rent the car unless I paid extra. It wasn't really about the license; they were just looking for ways to charge more.
Extremely poor experience, the worst I've ever had with a car rental. Be warned and avoid at all costs!
1. Couldn't find the store at the airport, the pickup instructions were vague and inaccurate. SurPrice deliberately didn't answer calls and didn't send pickup service (later said answering calls wasn't their job, how are we supposed to contact you for pickup then, telepathy?). Even QEEQ couldn't reach them. We wasted over an hour trying to contact SurPrice's local headquarters, and eventually a car showed up to take us to the store.
2. When we arrived at the store, they took a €1200 deposit, and when we went to pick up the car, they hadn't prepared the Jeep Compass SUV or an equivalent vehicle that we reserved. They tried to pass off a small blue Fiat 500x as an equivalent, but its trunk was too small for our luggage. They claimed it was the only automatic car available and offered no alternatives. The Italian woman at the counter had a terrible attitude. This was the worst car rental experience of my life.
3. Tried calling QEEQ customer service on-site, but they couldn't resolve it either. Their suggestion was to take the car and try to swap it later, a ridiculous idea since our luggage wouldn't fit in the car. How were we supposed to drive it away?
4. We had to cancel the reservation, find another rental at the airport, spend more money, and wasted over five hours before we could leave the airport. It was midnight by the time we left, absolutely exhausting and frustrating start to our trip.
5. This happened on June 17th and by July 5th I still haven't received a refund. No updates from them, only after I called did they quickly email saying they were processing the refund. The €1200 deposit from the store hasn’t been refunded either. It's like dealing with scammers.
Please be cautious renting through QEEQ, and avoid this local car rental company called SurPrice. They are still listed despite serious complaints, continuing to harm consumers. Their airport store is particularly dreadful and could ruin your trip right from the start.
I still haven't gotten back over 10,000 RMB and have no idea when I will. I’m not even asking for compensation, just my money back, and it’s been a nightmare. Physically and mentally draining, I'm really unlucky to have gone through this.
Extremely poor service, worst I've ever experienced. Avoid this company!
1. Couldn't find the branch at the airport, the pickup instructions were unclear and inaccurate. The SurPrice branch deliberately did not answer calls and did not pick us up (later said answering calls was not their job, how are we supposed to contact them for a pickup then?). Even QEEQ couldn't reach them. We had to spend over an hour contacting SurPrice's local HQ ourselves before finally getting picked up and taken to the branch.
2. At the branch, they charged a €1200 deposit, but didn't have the Jeep Compass SUV or similar vehicle we reserved. They tried to pass off a small Fiat 500x as the same class, which had a tiny trunk that couldn't fit our luggage. They claimed it was the only automatic car available and had a take-it-or-leave-it attitude. The Italian woman at the branch was extremely rude.
3. Contacted QEEQ customer service, who spoke with the woman but couldn't resolve the issue or offer an alternative vehicle. They suggested we drive the car away and try to exchange it later, which was absurd because our luggage wouldn't fit in the trunk. How would we drive away and expect to exchange the car later?
4. We were forced to cancel the reservation and find another car at the airport, costing us more money and five hours of time, leaving us exhausted and frustrated late at night.
5. This happened on June 17th and as of today, July 5th, I still haven't received a refund. No proactive feedback from them, only responded when I chased them. The €1200 deposit hasn't been returned either, and I'm starting to think this could be a scam.
Be cautious with QEEQ and especially SurPrice. This branch near the airport is particularly suspicious. They could ruin your entire trip!
I'm still waiting for my over 10,000 RMB to be refunded, no idea when this will be resolved. I haven't asked for compensation, just my money back, and it's been a nightmare. This experience has been physically and mentally distressing for me.
First, I arrived at the airport and contacted them. They told me to wait, but after an hour, no one showed up to pick us up. Eventually, I had to spend 160 RMB on a taxi to their store. When I arrived, I found out that others who had been waiting with me at the airport also took a taxi. It became clear that this was a common issue with this company. At the front desk, the woman kept aggressively pushing their insurance, almost implying that they wouldn't give me the car if I didn't buy it. I made it clear that I only wanted the basic insurance and nothing else. After arriving in Shanghai, I noticed an additional charge of 22 Euros. When I contacted them through the taxi service, I was told it was a pre-paid cleaning fee, which they never mentioned at the time of pickup. If this fee existed, why wasn't I informed when I collected the car? While the amount isn't significant, it's extremely dishonest. I do not recommend this car rental company at all.
The full insurance purchased from Zuzuche was not recognized, so I had to buy full insurance again. The reserved car was given away by the system, and eventually, I got a manual transmission vehicle.
The service staff's attitude was average. They tried to upsell full coverage insurance and an additional driver. The credit card pre-authorization was higher than estimated.
Actually, there is no Surprise rental car. The actual rental company is Autoone; Surprise is just a brand name. There are three receptionists during the day, and the procedures are quite extensive. They kept recommending the very expensive full insurance. The car was not the small one we wanted, but a compact Opel Astra, and there was no explanation for the change. When picking up the car, no one inspected it with us. They just said to take photos of any issues for records. There was a notice at the front desk that there would be a €22 cleaning fee if the car was not returned clean, which was not mentioned on the rental platform. A €900 deposit pre-authorization was required. When returning the car, there were no issues found, and I requested the deposit hold to be released immediately. The staff agreed and operated the computer to send an electronic receipt. However, the deposit was still not released even after I returned home more than half a month ago; I don't know the reason.
This place is super budget, be warned! Hard to find from the airport. You need to ring the company to tell them to pick you up. Go to departures and outside to wait outside door 17, where the van marked ‘auto stop’ will collect you.
Once there, they will try to charge you a cleaning fee for the car (€22) so factor this into the price.
Was really disappointed in the car we were given. I paid for a Ford Fiesta, which would have been big enough for our luggage, and got a Lancia Ypsilon.
About QEEQ:9.0/10
It was great that my rental car was rebooked for a lower price, but not at the expense of having the size car I booked.
