Despite handing my car back in perfect condition, on time, in the correct bay without any issues I've since received a strange phone call asking where the car was and when I said I'd already dropped it off they apologised, then the following day I got a missed call followed by an email asking my why I hadn't dropped off the car the previous day. Very strange and anxiety provoking, I'm glad I took photos of the car in situ of the car after I dropped it off. Completely unprofessional and best avoided entirely it you do t want strange worrying follow cars from them. You get what you pay for I suppose.
I rented this car and chose firefly because of the Promotion of $1 a day. However, it turned out of that going from Spain to Portugal cost me €80, and an extra driver cost me €80. They also charged me some strange amount for gas. In total it turned out to be one of the more expensive car rentals in my life.
The line was long, I guess I wasn't the only one who liked the promotion. The staff was ok, although they giggled and chatted a lot more than I thought was necessary. The returning of the car was a smooth and quick process, 10 out of 10.

The booking process as smooth and quick. No complaints here at all. Excellent site.
“Very slow process to get car at pickup point. Also try to sell all sorts of extras at pickup point”
About Firefly:8.7/10
Long long waiting times for car pickup.
Selling all extras at pickup
Must check car conditions as the paper is given as ‘new’ car but in reality many scratches on car...
Had a very long wait of one and a half hours to get the keys at the airport. Firefly knows in advance when people are arriving to collect cars and how many. Why are arrangements not made to deal with customers in a timely manner? The customer service representative did not apologise for the wait. I had 3 young children and it was 11pm at night. Instead he had a go at trying ti confuse me into buying extra insurance.
The counter staff spoke perfect English which was a relief after landing in Madrid jet lagged as all get out. The vehicle was upgraded to a much larger size (for whatever internal reason) which was great, but a little tricky on some small streets, but all good. Only 1400km on the speedo so almost brand new as well.

Seamless booking process with heaps of information which I had printed and took with me
Of course there was a surprise fueling charge regardless of weather you chose to return the car full or empty. This charge brought my total for the rental up to $100 for the week. This was still a really good price.

Price drop protection saved me $20. It was awesome.
No. I needed a 7 seat car with space for suitcases and the wasint space for a backpack in the trunk when all seats were being used.
They tryed to sell me more insurance.
I was charge cleaning and gas fee
The only advantage of this company is its low price, and nothing else. The wait time for picking up the car is very long, and the car they gave me was totally different from the one I booked — an old and very large business car. After insisting, they changed it to a very small two-seater car, but they have many requirements. They charged me a young driver risk fee, and the amount was double what was published on the website. When switching cars, there was a small scratch that I would have had to pay for if I hadn't taken detailed photos of every part of the car. Therefore, when dealing with this company, be sure to photograph every detail. Also, during the rental process, they kept trying to sell me insurance. When I refused to pay for the insurance, they blocked a deposit of 900 euros on my card, whereas other companies, like Avis, only blocked a bit over 200 euros. To summarize, aside from being cheap, their service is very poor, and the cars are very old.
From the beginning the vehicle was not ready, even though I had a reservation for 6PM. I had to wait one hour and twenty minutes. Expect to pay many additional charges. For example, if you decide to take the vehicle for 1 day to another country, they charge you $7.50 for the days of your rental contract (not the days you take the vehicle out of the country [suppose I rent for 30 days in Madrid and want to go to Portugal for one day, they charge you for the 30 days]). They also charged me 26 euro for a “service” fee, which I thought I wouldn’t have to pay since I brought back the vehicle full, but they didn’t care and didn’t want to change the contract “full to empty” to “full to full”. Very unhappy with firefly
