“Average car rental company. Was unimpressed with overcharging me at first. Vehicle condition wasn't”
About BARGAIN:7.0/10
They charged me double at first and had to dispute it with the help of the team at easyrentcars. Lots of minor damages to the vehicle with the key my biggest complaint. Was held up by tape and fell apart midway through our trip, which luckily I could fix because I am a mechanic.
About QEEQ:10.0/10
Booking process was easy. Customer service after I complained that Bargain overcharged me was superb. Quick and got my complaints sorted.
I think the pickup/dropoff fee is a hidden cost and excessive. With the limited available flights in/out of Launceston the 3pm closure is ridiculous. I was ready to be picked up by 2:50pm on arrival. Still they sent my car to the park/drive/fly location where I arrived at 3:01pm.
They could close at 7pm on Saturdays still they choose to close early to charge you an extra $60.
About QEEQ:9.0/10
The booking platform works fine. Still I would increase the total cost for bargain cars by $60 when the pickup / dropoff time would incur those charges. Rather than state the rental price and add the charges on the rental agreement notes.
Car ran rough - sounded and ran as if it was stuck in a lower gear all the time and ended up consuming an excessive amount of fuel. A car this small should get better than 40 MPG. I was lucky if i got 25-30 MPG maximum. Plus, the front tires were close to being bald.
Also, if you have an early morning flight, before 7:00am out of Gold Coast Airport, you are out of luck getting to the airport from rental return as nobody is there before 7:00am to take you to airport, unless you want to pay $35 shuttle fee.
“Went for the cheap option and received the cheap option”
About BARGAIN:6.3/10
No option to upgrade, which wasn't an issue
Remote for car had flat battery so had to manually unlock the vehicle whenever needed
Pickup shuttle smelled musty almost like urine
As we were walking in there was a heated argument between a customer about damage they swore was already on the vehicle, massive push for insurance that turned a good deal into a much more expensive endeavor(more expensive than the car) as we were told people do get charged 4500 even when not at fault and dont get it back for 6+ months due to insurance issues
then the car had an ant infestation and my partner was bitten multiple times
“Lousy. Out of my so many times in Melbourne car Renta experiences.”
About BARGAIN:5.3/10
The counter staff was hard selling the highest zero excess Insurance. Had little choice. The rental car has lots of scratches and dents and the interior was dirty. There was a time when I cannot start the engine because the key could not turn to on the ignition. Had to struggle a few times to turn the ignition. The fuel was not even full tank. 3/4 filled.
We would have had much difficulty dropout of the car if we hadn’t overheard another customer stating the address was unable to be found on iPhone maps.
Pick up and drop off at airport, super easy. No pushy sale from staff too. Also, car given to us was new and brought us around Tasmania, making it a very memorable trip. We were definitely satisfied :)
About QEEQ:10.0/10
Easy and smooth booking. Price drop function worked like magic, love it!
The vehicle I selected in the booking process was a Toyota Corolla or equivalent. But I was given a Hyundai Accent, which is 1 class below than the Corolla (thus the low rating for size). I only came to realize on the 4th day as I picked up the car late at night and drove the the hotel where it was parked at the basement for 3 nights.
The vehicle's front bumper and fenders was badly repaired. Front right fender was not flushed with the door and the front bumper was not properly secured. While I did not hit anything, the strong air speeds meeting the car due to driving caused left of the bumper to come slightly loose, and I was questioned for that when I return the car.
