Overall, I was very satisfied with the service. At pickup, I just said I have extra insurance covered and I will return with a full tank of gas, and the staff didn't try to upsell anything. I only rented the car for one day to go up the mountain for stargazing, but I should have rented it for a few more days because the small car I got later couldn't handle the green sand beach.
Couldn't reach customer service on the phone. The car was old, I didn't know how to use the key properly. After parking, I couldn't start the car or shift gears. I had to ask local people for help as customer service was unreachable.
Average service; not proactive in solving issues. Initially said the 7-seat car was unavailable and we had to wait 2 hours. The staff didn't actively find a solution. Eventually, they provided an 8-seat car, which was just adding a narrow seat in the middle row. Additionally, there was a mandatory daily surcharge, which was hard to understand.
Overall not bad, but picking up the car at the store was a bit of a hassle. Additionally, the vehicle's features, condition, and cleanliness were not as good as on the Big Island. Although they washed the exterior of the car, the inside had a layer of volcanic ash on the dashboard, and the steering wheel felt grimy. There were even cockroaches; my friend felt something crawling on his leg while driving, and we eventually saw it crawling into the center console.
Overall good, but there were some complications when picking up the car from the store. Additionally, the vehicle's configuration, condition, and cleanliness were not as good as Oahu. Although they washed the exterior, the interior, especially the dashboard, was covered with volcanic dust, and the steering wheel was greasy. There were even cockroaches. My friend felt something crawling on his leg while driving. It turned out to be a small fuzzy insect, which eventually crawled into the dashboard. ( ̄∇ ̄)…
Very good overall, smooth experience. They only tried to upsell the highway ETC, which I didn't rent. However, there were few staff members so I queued for over half an hour. Americans work quite slowly.
