The staff tried to forcefully sell insurance. I already purchased comprehensive insurance, but they kept pushing. After refusing, they gave us an old car.
The store suggested additional costs like insurance upgrades and fuel charges, which I identified and declined, but I almost fell for it. The RAV4 I booked was unavailable, and they gave me a KIA SPORTAGE instead. They claimed it was the only car of the same type left, which was confusing... The attendant at pickup told me I only had the basic insurance and needed an upgrade. I said the car rental platform I used already included comprehensive insurance, so no upgrade was necessary. He said okay, there would be no extra insurance charges. Then, he printed a paper and asked me to sign, emphasizing with a pen that the charge was zero. But I noticed the total amount was $56. When I asked, he explained it was for fuel. I told him my agreement with the platform was full-to-full fuel policy. He insisted their option was cheaper than refueling myself. When I insisted I didn't want it, he quickly crumpled the paper and threw it away...
The San Francisco location is too far and the wait time is long. Additionally, you have to wait for the car to be ready even if you've paid over a month in advance.
First, they push you to buy their fuel, then they try to get you to upgrade, and finally, they push the insurance. I told them I bought full coverage, but they still charged me for it (I arrived at 11 PM and had no energy to argue). They gave me an old car, and charged a $200 deposit while others only charged $100. Traveling through several cities, this company was the worst!!!
Like: The guy at pick up was friendly, even though he tried to sell me extra stuff. The car was a brand new Camry, great car in fantastic condition. Dislike: The drop-off people (LAX) were very unfriendly, almost to the point of being rude.
Not satisfied. Services and contracts don't have explanations in Chinese. The actual rental company is called Advantage; took a long time to find and didn't know its relation to Europcar.
The waiting time was extremely long, at least 20 minutes! Between 10-12 AM, there was basically only one person attending. The neighboring Herz and Budget counters had at least two staff and no lines.
The rental office is far from the airport and very inconvenient! Then the rental company charged us a bridge toll fee of $11 per day. It ended up costing me a lot of extra money. Don't use this rental company, they are a rip-off! I spent over $200 more after renting the car!
