“The car was great for economy but I didnt realise it was only a 2 seater, so no good for my family”
About Hertz:8.3/10
I was waiting to be served to drop the car off...a man walked in and went straight to the counter and got served before me...the member of staff wasnt even aware that I'd been sat there for 20 minutes....
For the first rental, we initially chose an Audi A4 estate, but were informed it was unavailable and only a Kia was left. They persuaded us to pay an extra £350 for an upgrade. The second rental experience was even worse. Despite already purchasing full insurance, they added an extra charge of £88 for insurance. When we arrived to return the car at the agreed time, the store was already closed. We didn't receive a detailed bill upon return, and after returning to our country, we found an additional charge of over £200 without any explanation. Our complaint remains unresolved to this day.
At pickup, they said no cars in the same category were available, we had to upgrade. If not, we would have to wait for four hours, but I arrived at 8 PM, so I had to upgrade and ended up paying an additional £1000 for the 16 days.
“Mostly fine except for drop off. Car was a really smooth manual which was nice to drive.”
About Hertz:8.3/10
The car was great, I would have expected the offices to open earlier than 9am at an international airport but we were told what time so that was ok. However, the central London drop off is atrocious, there’s barely any signage to know where to go/park drop off keys, and I got more help with dropping the car off from the security guard than the scant Hertz staff.

I couldn’t use the Price drop protection for some reason, the link just took me round in circles on the app. Maybe it’s because I made the account after booking the car, I’ll see next time I guess.
The Hertz premises at Newcastle station are in a very inconvenient location on the wrong side of the station and at the foot of a steep street. Hertz’s competitors have offices on the station forecourt and are much more accessible.
I was pleased to get a better car than I expected.
Without any notification, the initial order for a Mercedes was changed to a small Ford. Customer service couldn't resolve it, and we ended up canceling the order out of frustration. They even said they don't accept complaints! An international rental company with such poor service is truly disappointing. In the end, we had to cancel the order, but a Hertz employee came out and offered us a Hyundai for three days at the original four-day price. Overall, this was the worst rental experience abroad.
I got a pleasant upgrade to an automatic car and that too an Audi!!!! The staff was extremely helpful and friendly and the hiring process was very simple.
