The pickup point is 5 minutes away from the airport. We had to call three times and wait for 45 minutes before getting picked up! Meanwhile, other rental companies' cars came and went three or four times! The vehicle was very old, with over 130,000 kilometers on it. They also did not provide a phone mount.
After picking up our luggage at Christchurch Airport, the rental company was right there inside the airport. It was very convenient. The staff were very professional.
The car's trunk was scratched by the garage door, and I was charged 2000 NZD for repairs. Although I expected car repairs to be expensive in New Zealand, local friends informed me that this quote is twice as much as a 4S shop, which is quite unreasonable.
Booked the car in advance, good value for money. Switched to a Mitsubishi Outlander, which could fit a family of five. The trunk could hold two large suitcases and three small ones. The car had decent power, enough for traveling around the South Island. Renting a car abroad through QEEQ is reliable, with excellent service. They can assist in communicating with the store to resolve issues promptly. The pickup and return process is simple and fast. Definitely recommend them.
I chose to rent a gasoline car from Europcar, but the Auckland location only had electric cars available. During our two-day trip, we found six charging stations, but only two of them worked; the rest were either out of order or required a local SIM card for payment. We spent at least four hours charging the car, causing us to miss our return flight. This is just for reference for future travelers.
They gave us an 11km brand new Mitsubishi Outlander with seven seats. After converting to five seats, the trunk was super large. It came with navigation and wireless charging. Couldn't be more satisfied!
