The actual vehicle is not the 2023 model, it's relatively old. There's a strong odor inside the car, and the steering wheel shakes violently when driving at 100 km/h on the highway, posing a safety risk.
The car model wasn't the ideal one, and diesel cars have road charges in New Zealand. However, the overall pickup and dropoff process was quite convenient.
My first time renting a car abroad was an extremely satisfying experience. The most crucial part of a good car rental is the smoothness of the return process. When I returned the car, they just gave it a quick check and refunded my deposit. A good and reliable rental company meets this criteria. Plus, there were small gifts!
Great service. We spent an extra 90 NZD to rent snow chains just in case it snowed at Crown Mountain. We didn't use them, but the service was excellent.
The process was quite convenient. You just need to drop the key in the small house at the exit when returning the car. The road assistance is just a card with a contact number, costing 10 NZD/day, which I found useless and a waste of money. Because traveling to Milford Sound requires you to rent snow chains, you have no choice but to rent them for 12 NZD/day. If the store doesn't explicitly say you need to rent them, don't bother.
Not bad overall. However, the staff at the counter described the car as brand new, but upon inspection, we found five minor damages. After taking photos and discussing with them, they asked us to email the company, which I found unsatisfactory.
Great experience, very honest. I didn't inspect the car at pickup, and at return they found a crack in the glass. I was a bit nervous since I didn't buy extra insurance, but the staff who handled my rental quickly clarified that it was caused by the previous renter and assured me it wasn't my fault. This shows the company is very trustworthy. Kudos!
