The counter staff at Apex was unhelpful, rude and very short with us. She didn't check the car with us, just told us where it was. The car we received was from 2011, the bumper was dislodged and had to be snapped back into place, the inside panel casing around the seatbelt repeatedly had to be pushed back together. The radio in the car would not connect to my phone.

Everything was fine with Easyrentcars
We did receive a discount after booking with the price drop.
Only issue was Apex systems were down which made it take a bit longer on pickup other than that was hassle free, shuttle bus to and from airport is regular and quick

Only one hitch when I tried to extend the hire neither easy car nor apex wanted to take responsibility, however thanks to the manager in Auckland it was all sorted.
Pick up at Queenstown Airport was smooth. Slightly further away from the airport but not too difficult to find. Return at Christchurch Airport was very fast as the lady did a quick check and everything was ok. They also offer complimentary drop-off to the airport
The car we were given exceed our expectations. Very good to drive & very comfortable. Staff on pick up & drop off were extremely helpful, couldn’t do enough for us.

Found it I bit hard to locate office in Auckland as we were looking for EasyRentCars and couldn’t see that name anywhere or even the street number, so we weren’t sure if we were in the right place.

Good Part: it was good to have the quick traffic rule test, so that we could discuss some areas that we are unfamiliar with local rules.
Bad part: customer service was bad. One lady, not the person handling our return, announce the tyre damage to the whole floor, which was unnecessary and inappropriate for customer privacy. I was charged 2000nzd for the tyre damage. I asked for a more accurate estimate on spot and a male staff said 500 is enough. The officer handling my case told him to "f... off". For the refund of excess charge, I wrote in a few times for bank transfer instead of credit card refund to avoid the hefty exchange charges, but the requests were simply ignored.

When I needed help booking the Interislander Ferry the staff were excellent. Ellie in Wellington especially so.

Upon initial booking I required to speak to a person. Found it disconcerting to speak to someone in Hong Kong when talking about New Zealand.
They were not aware of the geography - places, areas etc. Wish I'd realise I was booking through an agent.
Quick pick up, efficient staff. Helpful staff member outside helped us out looking for pre - existing damage.
Car was a base model but perfectly OK. Totally reliable.
The car we were allocated was much older than the others in the fleet and had lots of dents and scratches. Not sure why this was so but I'm the end it was great as we did not have to worry about another scratch. The car did us proud for 33 days. Thank you.

The car was a Toyota Rav 4. Excellent value for money and it ran very well for the whole trip. It was an older vehicle which had a lot more superficial paint damage than was in the original photographs but the lady at the desk at Greymouth dealt with that quickly with me and took notes of the additional marks to the car. This wasnt a problem at all and I am very pleased overall.

This all worked great. Easy to book. The car pick up only took time because a load of people got off the train at Graymouth at the same time. The staff were excellent and the wait was not a problem at all.

The car was exceptionally great! The location for pickup and the price was great. The staff that was handling us was terrible. From the moment we reached here counter, she was unhappy and getting agitated without any reason, and the way she talked to us was rude. It was obvious she is avoiding minimum communication with us, whenever I asked any questions it’s mostly’yes’ or ‘no’. We were unfortunately enough to see here again when we dropped of the car, and it was obvious on the treatment. Right before us was another group of people who is of her ethnicity, and she asked how they we go from the rental place and she even catered a taxi for them. When it came to us, she did a quick check and said in a grumpy manner ‘ok, done, good bye’ and chased us of. The next person she approached, she gave a very good service by asking them how they are going off and laughing.
Apex needs to look into this matter and train that particular staff to at least act decently and with equally treatment in front of the customers. Apart from this the other aspects were good.

Good platform to check and validate prices. Should cater more companies to use this. I have noticed there is a lot of Rental cars that’s not here. Plus, it will be better it the platform have more exotic cars available, like Touchdown rental of Queenstown, where they have Mustangs for rent.

Would 100% recommend Apex cars. We were a bit worried having seen some negative reviews online beforehand, but were pleasantly surprised. Received excellent customer care at both pick up (Auckland) and drop off (Wellington). In addition, the car (a mazda axela as a tiida equvalent) was in great condition and very spacious and comfortable. No criticisims whatsoever, staff were helpful, courteous, welcoming, and had humour.
We did also use Ace rentals for the south island, but found the quality and comfort of the Apex car rental, as well as the customer service to be far superior.
