EZU Car Rental is run by Chinese people, and they intentionally extort other Chinese! Their customer service presents a lengthy English contract when customers pick up the car, rushing them to sign it, knowing they don't have time to read it completely. Customers assume the contract is the same as the one from the official car rental website. However, after signing, they don't give the customer a copy of the original contract. When returning the car, they find various reasons to charge high extra fees, like an outrageous cleaning fee of $200, while the official contract states only $20. If the customer refuses, they threaten to cancel the airport drop-off service, forcing customers to catch a taxi to the airport at their own expense. This company lures domestic tourists with low rental prices and then scams them during the drop-off, extorting fellow countrymen. Shameful and despicable! I will publish my experience on Xiaohongshu to warn more fellow travelers about their ugly tactics.

The service attitude during car pickup was not very good. Even though we had bought the super full insurance, they still tried to push an additional daily insurance costing tens of NZD. Fortunately, we had been warned by the rental platform not to be misled. The staff member was very unhappy and grudgingly gave us a fake SUV, a Toyota Estima! We almost couldn't fit all our luggage, and after managing to squeeze everything in, we were very uncomfortable.

I specifically booked a Hertz Highlander, but only a Sorento was available at pickup. The price for a Sorento is half at other shops. The car had a bad odor throughout! Pickup was at 7 PM and drop-off at 8 PM. I confirmed that a one-hour delay was permissible, but was charged for at least half a day.

The car was brilliant and close to brand new.

It's a small company. Although the pickup and drop-off location was supposed to be Auckland Airport, you actually have to go to a store about 3 kilometers away to get the car. There is no counter at the airport, and you need to call the store yourself upon arrival, which is very troublesome if you don't speak English. They don't open before 9:00 AM, so if you arrive at the airport before then, you need to take a taxi yourself. We spent a total of $28 on taxi fares for a round trip. Once there, you have to get the car keys yourself, and there are no staff on site to guide you through the car inspection. We didn't even know what type of gasoline to use at first. The car was very old, made a lot of noise when driving, and had an unusually high fuel consumption. We used 23 liters of fuel for just 170 kilometers! When we got the car, it wasn't fully fueled; it was almost empty. Returning the car required it to be at the same fuel level, which we had to estimate ourselves. The deposit was a surprising $2000, and they didn't specify when it would be refunded. Overall, the experience was very bad.

The store staff are mostly Indian, and their attitude towards Chinese people isn't very good. The car is an older model RAV4, not the 2019 version, and its condition is poor, making it hard to drive.

Lovely pick up place staff. We got upgraded with a noicer and bigger car. Thank you. Always nice to get upgraded :) Car was clean but quite a lot of scratches/dents in the car which is fine because the staff were all aware of it. Drop off was super quick. Thank you.

値段が安くて少し心配でしたが、スタッフの方も親切で、車の状態もとてもよく、何も問題ありませんでした！ 空港までのピックアップの予約をしなければいけなかったのがわからず、現地で電話をしなければいけないのが大変でした。 現地で使える番号は持っていないし、電話で英語で話すのもハードルが高く、ピックアップ場所や方法の説明がないのが困りました。 それ以外は全て快適でした！

最初に申し込みをしてから、オプションの追加方法などが分かりづらかったです。

The provided vehicle was somewhat old. It broke down on the road once, and they had to send a repair person, which delayed my trip. The window controls had issues, and the automatic doors would occasionally fail to close. Overall, the experience was mediocre. I recommend renting from larger companies when traveling, as an older car can significantly disrupt your plans.
