It's a reduced to the max rental place with office in a Container, but everything went smooth!

Dislike: The airport arrival pickup was not clearly written. I thought I had to walk through the airport rental garage to find shuttle pick up area, when in fact, it was right outside the airport door. I had to call twice to ensireninwas in correct spot. The longest part of the pick-up, was waiting while the agent answered same phone calls over and over. I wasn't the only one confused by the description. Just wait at the shuttle stand, they come frequently!!!

The pick up van took over 30 minutes, as you will read in many reviews. If you are prepared, it's well worth the wait given their prices. The car I was shown had a windscreen crack and other damage, but they were happy to change it for a newer one straightaway. No other issues, prompt paperwork at return and no surprises.

We waited nearly an hour for the free shuttle. I had to phone 3 times before we were finally picked up. After that the whole process of the car rental was very easy and quick. The counter staff were very friendly and cheerful. The car was not dirty but it could be sparkling instead of dripping with water from the car wash.

The only thing I found odd and slightly annoying is their renewal or extension policy. Normally when I rent a car and I wish to keep it for a few days longer, I phone up the company and they let me keep it at the same price for however long I need it for.
With Routes, when I phoned to ask them if I could extent for a couple more days, they quoted me a price that was twice the amount of original rental.
The only way I could have it for the normal price, was to rebook online, drive all the way back to the rental place (on the day my contact expired) and then sign and start a new contract for the extra few days.
That was super annoying.
There was no flexibility in term of returns, extensions, rebooking, or price. That's where a larger company like hertz or enterprise are better. Luckily I was still in the city on the day of my scheduled return, but had I been away, I would have either had to drive all the way back to Vancouver, or I would have been stuck paying twice the daily rate.

Waited 30 minutes for shuttle. Arrive at location. Waited another hour. I took over 20 minutes per customer to pick up a car. Only 2 check in people. Book specifically a Wrangler Jeep. Given a boring Durango SUV. Car was very dirty on outside. I had to wait a further 15 to get it washed. Took over 2 hours from waiting for shuttle to driving off with car. Tank was completely empty. Light flashing and needle below E sign. Would not recommend Routes and question Easy Car for being associated with this company.

You initially get recorded messages when you phone the Tel # upon arrival to arrange airport transfer to the Rental pick up point, eventually you do get to speak with a Person. We were told that there was either a white or grey van at the Pick-up area, which was not true, tried on numerous attempts to phone back and speak with a person but was unable to get through. Eventually we were picked up and taken to the Agency, the Female agent said that we had not rented our vehicle direct from them, that we had use an other Rental Agency, after about 10 -15 minutes of dealing with this person she said that we would be given our vehicle in 2 minutes, after more than 20 minutes passed by she finally gave the Paperwork to a male employee and told him to take us to the vehicle. He requested that we inspect the vehicle and report any deficiencies, as the vehicle had just been washed, was very wet and parked in a dark location I express my concern that it was impossible to see whether there were scratches and dings so he noted my concern on the document. From when we first phoned to when we drove the vehicle off of the Agency lot it was well over an hour, considering the location was only about 5 -7 minutes from the pick up point that is an unacceptable waste of our time due mostly to the inefficiency of the female staff member that handled our rental.

the car was not at all clean when we picked it up. when we mentioned it to the staff they said sorry but it was very busy (which it was) and they did not have time to clean the car. It also smelled of smoke. The worse was that it was not sound mechanically. Made a loud revving noise and jerked along whenever the automatic system changed gears. It did not feel safe to drive and we emailed customer care. They responded after 3 days saying to call the local office where we could never get through to a live person. So we continued to drive it always nervous about it. It also guzzled gas to an extent I've never seen before. I asked for some sort of rebate when turning the car in but was told to let head office know. So I'm doing that now and hope you'll respond to our satisfaction. Otherwise we will never used your service again.

They did not have the category of car i reserved even though i pre-paid! I reserved a corolla or similar car and when they did not have it they asked me to take a pickup truck! I said 'no way im drying that', so they gave me a HUGE dodge derango that was an absolute gas guzzler, like nothing i have seen, i used so much more money on gas than i wanted to that went completely no compensated for. It took around an hour to get the car. Aside from that hour I waited 40 minutes to be picked up at the airport...and they would not give me any money back on the rental or give me vouchers for next time - nothing! No compensation for the absolute wrost car rental experience I have ever happened. Really poorly done - would never recoomend to myself or rent with them again.

The rental process on Routes is different from all other companies I used until today. They ask for the Insurance contract and don't have one to offer. The line on the pickup and return was big and all because of this strange requirements that delays the process and irritate costumers. I could get the car with my Brazilian license, but my friend couldn't with his license from El Salvador... We didn't understand the policy for rental, it just doesn't make any sense.

The shuttle service from Vancouver airport to Routes was not good. I called 3 times over the course of an hour to ask about when a shuttle vehicle would be coming. When it finally arrived there was a large crowd needing a ride to Routes and only a small vehicle able to carry maximum 4-5 people. It was difficult to figure out who was there first. You need more frequent shuttles based on your bookings and bigger shuttle vehicles to accommodate more than a single person per booking.

So, we had to call them and ask for the inconvenience. Our car details included almost 1200km per day, thing that we didn't do at all. After talk with 2 employees of Routes they told us that was a mistake and we don't have to pay more. The shuttle from the airport was a horrendous THREE HOUR experience due to mainly traffic. Once at the Routes office yet another agonizing 50 minute wait due to inconsiderate and inexperienced staff. After 35 minutes to get through the sign-in, the pre-inspection found the vehicle was NOT clean and ready, the lot jockey collided with another vehicle in their lot rushing it over to the cleaning bay. Another vehicle was brought in, NOT clean, so we had another 15 minute wait to finally get our “not to clean” vehicle ! This four hour + fiasco set us nicely into Vancouver rush hour traffic which was not in my plans considering we landed at YVR at at 12:45pm

The car was damaged on every corner. It had a bad humid smell on the inside. The trunk bed was wet when we got it and it didn’t dry the whole week we had the car. The smell probably came from there. Both front lights were burned. We figured it out while driving in complete darkness... thank god the high beems still worked. I didn’t have a problem with the car mechanically. The shuttle from the airport to Routes and back was quick. Overall, I would say it was an ok experience since we paid about half as other companies were charging. Just don’t expect the highest quality of car.

The employees are extremely friendly. Because of this, I would absolutely rent from Routes again. The shuttle driver who drove during my trip from the airport was patient and one of the nicest people you'll ever meet. The driver on the way to the airport was, well, the opposite -- his stories made it clear that he has a road rage problem. The rental car itself was fine -- it was in ok condition. There was trash left in the vehicle (e.g., a large cup under the seat) from previous occupants, and the car had quite a bit of minor cosmetic issues (doesn't bother me at all). The main problem was that it took an extremely long time for me to pick-up the car, despite being second in line upon arrival at the rental car office. I waited over an hour. The staff was friendly, but didn't explain (until 50 minutes into the wait) that they were trying to find the car off-site. It was given to me with a quarter tank of gas. I guess, for the price, I shouldn't expect things to be smooth.

Although the vehicle was in great condition and provided our family with loads of space for our family vacation, we would never recommend Routes car rental.
We had to wait 45 minutes for a shuttle to pick us up. The person who set us up with our vehicle was less than courteous. The vehicle was not ready when we picked up - despite our flight being delayed by several hours. The inside of the car was not clean - dashboard was full of dust and suntan lotion, windshield was filthy. Lastly, the car was empty and we had to stop to fill it, which resulted in us missing our ferry.

The car was pathetic and very old!! The ROUTES rental agency was over-booked and over-crowded and completely mis-managed. No person knows what he/she has to do and every person does every thing. Very bad customer service. My nephew forgot his hat in the car. I called them within 30 mins after I returned the car and was told they are busy, can't check for me. They asked me to call back after 3 hours. I did, and was told they were still too busy to spend one minute to get the hat for me. They told me to call back after 8pm. I did, and was told that they will give me a call back but they never called. I called again at 11pm and they told me sorry the car is rented out and they can't do anything now. I asked them if they can try contact the renter. They said okay they try the next morning and let me know. But they never did. Overall I called 8 times for such a small thing which I think a good customer service would solve the problem at the very first call. My nephew is very very upset.

The waiting time took quite a while, but the pick up process was straight forward. My only feedback was that the cleanliness of the vehicle was subpar and I had called to complain about this. I called 5 times about the dog fur that was not cleaned up, and Amrit (customer service) said she would pass on my message to the manager and that they would call me back. I never got a call back, and had my allergy symptoms throughout the rental because of the unclean car / dog fur.

The pick up took 2 hours and 10 phone calls. No one gave me a solution and left me waiting outside from 9pm to 11pm after landing . The office people kept apologizing but didn’t solve my issue. 受取のスタッフは欧米系の男性でとても対応が良かったのですが、返却の際に対応してくれたインド系の年配の女性の対応が最低でした。対応は高圧的で、返却後に空港にシャトルバスで送ってもらえるか聞いたところ、それは私の仕事ではない!と言い去っていきました。
返却までは良いサービスを受けていただけに最後の最後て非常に不快な思いをしました。
総合的には値段も安く車両も良かったので満足していますが、次回使うかと言われたら使うかはわかりません。

The vendor appear disorganized, it took a long time to pick up even only 2 customers at the moment. Nearly one hour to pick up the car and 30 mins to drop off. Unique experience not found anywhere before. Inexpensive is a leverage, however, you need to expect what you are paying for with a little bit more disappointment especially you are in rush or too tire to deal with the slow service.

It was not clear that I required a credit card to pick up and that the card I had used to pay for the booking was not suitable for security deposit. This resulted in having to come back hours later once my brother had finished work to pick up the car and we ended up getting to our location after midnight. When picking up the car I overheard 3 other groups of customers in the same position that I was in. Once we picked up the car the lady at the desk said she would 'upgrade' the car but this did not seem to be the case, I dont think the car I had ordered was available and I overheard her upgrading everyones car in the line.

They gave us an upgrade that we didn’t ask for. At first we thought it was good but then later realized the car was too big and also used more gas. Also we forgot an item at the rental and they were not very helpful at helping us find it at the location and responding promptly about it. We still haven’t found it. Also it a bit inconvenient to take the shuttle out and in of the airport to get the car and drop the car. Also the parking at routes was small so we had to be extra careful going in and out. The price quoted was extremely good however I did not realise that I would have to buy their car insurance as they would not accept any car insurance outside of north america so could not use the global coverage I already had and is accepted by every other rental agency I have ever used in Canada and in the USA. This increased my rental charge by about 65%.

Was a nice clean car. Got a 2019 KIA Soul which was unexpected but a great little car. Very comfortable had lots of tech and great on fuel. Counter staff were polite and helpful, so was the guy who took me to and inspected the car with me. The price was phenominal. I got full insurance and it worked out to less than $30 a day. I've seen people complain in reviews but I had a great experience. Also I'm more than willing to drive a little further and wait a little bit to get my car for such a great deal. I will definitely use Routes again when I rent a car.

Very poor company with young untrained staff lacking fundamental knowledge of the business.
I wanted the insurance but the staff denied it and put it on my credit card coverage with no clear reason other than their inability to sell insurance.
I got charged for mileage yet EasyRentCars indicated there is 2,500 kms within the rental price. My kms made was approx. 370 kms. I was charged $0.2/km for 1,323 km then an email was sent indicating a partial refund, however, no refund showed on my credit card. I had to call and the issue was not resolved until now. I had to dispute the transaction from the credit card and I'm still awaiting a final resolution. This is one day after I got the car and used it already.
Also, I booked a standard car (Corolla) and I got a smaller car (KIA Soul). The staff indicated they can't guarantee the brand. I accepted the car as I needed it for work.

The car was fine. When we arrived at the airport, the pickup car drove right by us (at the appointed place) without checking to see if anyone was waiting for them. When I called the desk to advise, the lady that answered the phone was rude. At the desk upon arrival to Routes, the gentleman was very helpful, and the woman that checked us in was nice, but overall (other than the main guy) didn't seem to care. When I went back in to check on the blinking oil light on the car, there were 3 people just standing around playing on their phones (the helpful guy was on the phone with a customer), and no one acknowledged us until there were 3 other people in the line as well. Return went a little smoother, and no problems with shuttle back.

Si on respecte les consignes préalables, la location se fait sans souci (surtout pour la clientèle canadienne et américaine).
Le véhicule qui nous été remis était très récent (2019) et le modèle le plus équipé (Nissan Rogue SL AWD) ce qui a fait notre plus grand bonheur.
Prix très avantageux.
Le seul bémol est que le véhicule nous a été remis sale. L’extérieur a été rincé tout au plus et il restait des objets des locataires antérieurs dans les espaces de rangement (appui-bras et coffre à gant).
Je relouerais avec eux sans hésiter.

Off-airport location so you need to call upon arrival and get picked up. Information was provided at booking, and good instructions were provided when I called. Pick-up was quick and efficient. The only issue I had was that they just tell you to return the car with however much fuel is in it when you pick up. Yes, I must agree that Routes YVR provides excellent rates as compared with other competitors in market. That's the reason they're people thrive at their location. But but but.. their front office staff is really very pathetic. They treat customers as if we've taken million $ credit from them. Entire staff is so rude that I don't have words to define it. I don't expect them to always have a smiling face but expect them to be polite. If they don't love their job, just quit and let right people manage it. I booked an intermediate car and they gave me Jeep Wrangler. Whooping it's mileage is just 8 kms/litre in city.

Reviews read were sometimes terrible but the price difference was huge. So we paid for the extra insurance and took a chance and everything was really very good. Apparently Routes rules are really strict so perhaps be careful about the T&C's. We would definitely use again if the prices stay low. They don't actually have any Nissan Pathfinders but the big Dodge was fine.

Vehicle exactly as booked. Pick up process was took about 10 minutes but getting the car took another 15. AND it wasn't clean. Had to wait an extra 5 minutes for a wash and the floor was not vac,d, windows dirty. For the price, good value, but Routes needs to streamline their operation. Drop off took about 15 minutes as that was also another painful process. Shuttle service was good comparable to others.

I did not get the vehicle that I expected, and I did not see the variety of models that they claimed to offer in their lot. I was also asked about obvious wear and tear as "damage" to the vehicle, which was dropped when I offered to involve American Express.

This was our first time booking through Routes, and honestly will never book them again. We specifically went with them because we wanted a Jeep Grand Cherokee. However, when we got there, we were told they didn't have any... Not just that they were all booked up, but that they don't even have any in they car registry. They gave us what they thought was of equal value.. a Kia. The the other sites I was looking at while booking had the same Kia's for quite a bit cheaper. But its want a Kia. The free airport shuttle took over 2 hours to pick us up, because they only had one shuttle and had multiple pick up locations through the Vancouver airport. It was also full when it drove by us... We called multiple times (3times) to inform we were still waiting. When we got to the rental building it was a old converted night club, but very very very busy. We waited another hour in line to pick up SUV.

One piece of feedback is about winter tires and chains, it didnt come up in the conversation during pick up and turned out they are required by law in many areas of British Colombia during winter. When I arrived at the rental company, I was told that they only have Wranglers and no other Jeep models. I specifically chose the more expensive Grand Cherokee or similar model to have more space for my stuff. If I had known this, why would the website list more expensive Jeep models? I could have just chosen a Wrangler directly. So when I got the Wrangler, I couldn't fit everything, which was very inconvenient.

1. This is supposed to be a local chain, but I only found two locations in the whole of Vancouver.
2. During the booking, I specifically chose the Jeep Cherokee, but I got a Nissan instead. The difference is night and day. I couldn't argue because the rental company is located outside the airport. If you don't want it, you have to walk back to the airport yourself.
3. Nowhere did it mention that there was a mileage limit. I went to the US and was told I could only drive 1300 kilometers in 6 days, and any extra would be charged at 30 CAD per kilometer. I just had to accept it.
4. When I picked up the car, they rushed me through a 1-minute inspection, but when I returned it, they took 10 minutes to check. They said there was a ~0.2cm scratch on the top of the windshield that wasn't there before. They insisted it was my fault. Are you crazy for money? Making all sorts of excuses to charge me. In the end, I had to catch a flight, so I unwillingly wrote down what happened.

We waited 40 minutes for someone to pick us up, but when we were about to get in the car, it drove off. We called the rental company and waited another 15 minutes before another car arrived. We have rented from this company twice. The first time, we returned the car at 8:00 AM, but there was no one at the lot. We left the keys on the counter and had to take a taxi to the airport ourselves. The second time, when we returned the car after coming back from Banff, no one attended to us for a long time. We handed over the keys and were told we could leave. I insisted on a proper check and signed confirmation that there were no issues. The gas tank was empty when we picked up the car.

It appears to be a Mexican-operated store. The company seems to have only five staff: one for driving the shuttle, one for cleaning cars, one for handing over cars, and two for customer service, making the wait time quite long. The staff is rather inflexible, requiring a translated document. I didn't need a translated document in New Zealand, the UK, or Spain. This led me to find a translator urgently. Thankfully, the translator was very accommodating and agreed to translate first and get paid after I got the car. It took just half an hour to get it done and submit it to the rental company.

When returning the car at 8 AM, no staff was present, had to hand the keys over to a non-staff member, and there was no shuttle to the airport. The car was very dirty, the worker just gave it a quick wipe, and the gas tank was almost empty.

We waited at the airport for the shuttle to take us to the pickup location, and the whole process of waiting and getting the car took over an hour. The car they gave me was two tiers lower than what I booked, but they charged the same. Due to the remote location of the pickup point, there were no other rental companies nearby, so it was impossible to cancel and switch to another company, not to mention wasting over an hour. It felt like a scam! Worst of all, the company's staff were extremely lazy and didn't fill the tank. I had to return the car with three-quarters of a tank. If I filled more, I lost money. If I filled less, they charged me extra. Basically, the customer loses out!

I booked a sedan but got a hatchback. The service was okay, but there were long lines when picking up the car. Just so you know, you don’t have to queue when returning the car. By the way, I ran into a really frustrating issue: I booked a car with this company through Zuzuche in early February and paid the full amount, returning the car on time. But in early May, they charged me $400 without notifying me. Unreal!

The rental company's service was quite good. Upon arrival at the airport, I called them and they directed me to the pick-up location. There was no hard sell when picking up the car, and the process was quick. The car itself was satisfactory overall. However, the company didn't thoroughly clean or inspect the car before handing it over. There was trash left by previous users, and the windshield washer fluid was low after a single use, so I had to buy a bottle to refill it.

Remember, you get what you pay for! Firstly, the staff's attitude was poor; most of them were Indians and they weren't very patient with Chinese customers, probably because many Chinese customers are not good at English. Secondly, the rental contract process is unlike that of reputable rental companies. Other companies usually have a deposit of $200 and a maximum liability of $700, but here the deposit is $500 and the maximum liability is $3000. Thirdly, they don't show you the contract before you sign it. Normally, a regular store would explain the insurance coverage first, and then let you review the completed contract before signing it. Fourthly, when picking up the car, you must carefully inspect it for any scratches or issues because they won't tell you if there are any problems. If you find issues after taking the car, it will be hard to argue when returning it, and you may face high penalties. I almost got scammed myself, but fortunately, I found two small holes in the windshield before driving away. I asked the staff to note it down, and she reluctantly did so. I pointed out that such damage couldn't have been unknown to her, yet she didn't inform me. This experience taught me to be very cautious when renting a car abroad. Don't try to save a little money at a higher cost; always opt for full insurance.
